The Chinese University of Hong Kong's "Beishan Ancient: Chinese Seals - Art Appreciation Tour" experiential learning activity
Date: 19/11/2024
The seal, a credential and symbol of authority, has been utilized throughout history as a means of authentication by states, officials, and individuals within social contexts.
On 19 November 2024, the Form Five students of our school visited the "Beishan Ancient: Chinese Seals - Art Appreciation Tour" special exhibition organized by the Art Museum of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Through the interactive guided tour of the exhibition, the students gained insights into the evolution of seals, spanning from ancient seals of the pre-Qin period to the modern seal carving of literati, with the exhibition's organization based on categories and historical development.
Additionally, during the Portrait Seal Workshop, the students enriched their understanding and appreciation of Chinese seals while creating their own portrait seals. The students exhibited great enthusiasm and boundless creativity during the workshop, producing unique and individualized portrait seals.
