Date: 18/12/2025
To deepen students' understanding of physical geography and cultural history, our Geography Department organized a study tour to Tengchong, Yunnan, offering students an immersive experience in the region's unique landscapes, rich historical background, and diverse cultural heritage. The journey began with a visit to the Gaoligong Mountain Tea Expo Park, where students experienced traditional tea-making, followed by visits to the Jade Museum and jade processing markets to learn about jade appreciation and history. Reflecting on the nation’s history, the group visited the Memorial Hall of the War of Resistance in Western Yunnan and the Guoshang Cemetery, gaining a profound appreciation for the sacrifices made to defend the country. Students also explored intangible cultural heritage by participating in the coloring of traditional Tengchong shadow puppets and enjoying a puppet theater performance.
Furthermore, the students visited the Volcanic Hot Sea to marvel at geothermal hot springs and climbed the steps of the Volcano Geological Park to overlook the magnificent volcanic landforms, supplementing their field observations with academic insights at the geological museum. The tour concluded with a visit to the historic, century-old Tengchong No. 1 Middle School for an enriching exchange with local teachers and students. Finally, the group wandered through Heshun Ancient Town, where they enjoyed hands-on experience in grinding and brewing Yunnan coffee, wrapping up a highly rewarding tour that broadened their geographic perspectives and deepened their civic and cultural awareness.
