"Passing on the Torch Platform" Programme Series: An Exploration into the Supply of Dongjiang Water to Hong Kong

A group of 20 students from our school visited the Dongguan Taiyuan Pumping Station, the Dongshen Water Supply Project Memorial Park, the Shenzhen Yuehai Water Services Exhibition Hall, and the Shenzhen Reservoir. This trip allowed them to learn about the history and development of the Dongshen Water Supply Project, understand the monitoring and operation of the Dongjiang water system that supplies water to Hong Kong, and recognize the importance of the Dongshen Water Supply Project for Hong Kong's drinking water supply. Additionally, they learned the principle of "those who drink the water shall never forget those who dug the well," fostering an attitude of gratitude and appreciation for water resources while understanding the importance of resource security.
Students visited the Yuehai Water Services Exhibition Hall to gain insights into the reasons behind the construction of the Dongshen Water Supply Project, its development process, current status, and management and protection measures.
Students listened attentively to the guide's explanations.
Students visited the Taiyuan Pump Station to understand the operation of the Dongjiang water supply system and the large-scale infrastructure projects that ensure the quality of Dongjiang water.
Students conducted water experiments under the guidance of scientific personnel.
Students visited the Shenzhen Reservoir.
Students expressed great excitement at the opportunity to visit the Shenzhen Reservoir, which is not open to the public.
Students visited the Nanshan Museum to learn about the historical culture and economic development of Nanshan.
Students visited the Nantou Ancient City to personally experience the nation's efforts in revitalizing historical buildings and to understand the work involved in the conservation and transmission of cultural heritage.
