Sichuan Giant Panda Keeper Experience Programme
Date: 28/02/2026
The Giant Panda is not only a "living fossil" of the biological world but also a national treasure that represents China's image, spreading messages of peace and friendship. Our school led a group of students to visit Sichuan—the paradise of giant pandas—exploring Chengdu and its surrounding areas to understand our country from multiple perspectives, including history, culture, urban development, and natural ecology.
The teachers and students visited museums and historical sites to learn about Three Kingdoms culture and the development of the Bashu region. Walking through unique cultural streets and newly emerged commercial districts, they experienced Chengdu’s unique urban landscape, where a leisurely lifestyle coexists with modern infrastructure. Standing before the remains of the Sichuan earthquake, they gained a profound sense of the disaster's destructive power and the resilient spirit of post-disaster reconstruction through real-world sights and detailed briefings.
Students also had the precious opportunity to visit a giant panda base to participate in a panda keeper experience activity, where they personally helped prepare food and clean the enclosures, learning about conservation and the responsibility of animal care.
