"The Xtra Factor!" touring show
Date: 24/03/2026
Our school recently hosted the "The Xtra Factor!" touring show by Croucher Science Week, providing students with an electrifying journey into the world of STEM. The performance brought the stories of four legendary female scientists to life through high-energy demonstrations and interactive storytelling.
Students were particularly captivated by the live mini-volcanic eruptions which illustrated the daring work of volcanologist Katia Krafft. The session on Delia Derbyshire opened our ears to the fascinating intersection of electronic music and engineering. Added to that, learning about Hertha Ayrton’s life-saving inventions and Stephania Soldini’s current mission to defend Earth from asteroids demonstrated that science is not just a subject, but a heroic career path.
The show successfully broadened our students' horizons, proving that STEM careers are diverse and accessible to everyone. We hope this experience inspires our students to pursue their scientific passions with the same courage as these pioneers.
